My relationship with technology is pretty good. I use technology every single day. There are times where I use it to look up information. I also use it to read books. Actually, I have a kindle and the kindle app on my phone. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, so to have technology where I could get books and do one of my favorite things anywhere is really amazing. Now I am 100 percent sure that I think, read, and write differently than people many years ago who did not have this kind of technology. Sure, I may not be able to comprehend Shakespeare like people did years ago. But is that really a bad thing? People believe that now of days, no one actually deep reads, and all they do is skim writing. I do not believe that’s true. Even with using technology I am still able to deep read. I will admit that sometimes I skim writing but that is usually if I am not interested in it especially if it was reading given by school. 

Not only does technology help me with enjoying some of my favorite hobbies but it also allows me to communicate with my family. I am from Michigan which is about a 13-hour straight drive from the University of New England. With stops it can end up being a 16-hour long drive. Since I am so far away from home, having a phone where I can call, text, or facetime my family is amazing. Just the other day I was on facetime, and I got to sing happy birthday with my family to my aunt. I can also send them pictures of places I visit and just communicate with them so much faster than sending letters and such. That brings me to maps. People love to travel all over and with that, a lot of people travel through going on road trips. To get places you at least need to know where you are going, which is why maps on your phone are super useful. They even will warn you about traffic and road closures coming up. Before it is brought up that your phone could lose service which could get you lost, my maps still work even when there is no service.

Online shopping has become such a huge thing these last years. I agree I love shopping online. You can find so many cool items through the internet and get it delivered straight to your house. Not only that but you could find items from different countries and learn so much about different cultures through the world. I could find things from Japan, Sudan, Italy, or even Mexico and get those things delivered to my house in a short amount of time. That is pretty amazing to think about.

The next thing technology helps me with is schoolwork. Getting sick is pretty common when going to school with a bunch of kids. Usually, people will get sick a couple times throughout the school year. If I miss school instead of having to wait to go to school the next day and getting behind with work, I am able to check online and see any work that I missed and try to do it online. Also, I would be able to contact any classmates through my phone or social media to try and get any notes that I missed. They can just snap a picture or share a document of the notes within seconds. Lastly, I honestly think that technology has helped me write better. There are so many rules to writing that I sometimes forget some of them. Thankfully, there are sometimes suggestions through Microsoft Word and Google Docs that can be helpful. Another thing, if I make a mistake, it is so much easier to fix on a computer than actually writing it out. My hands get saved when writing on computer. When I write for long periods of time, my hands start to cramp up and hurt badly at times. Which is not good when I must take notes from teachers who are going pretty fast, because I can easily miss some information to write down. When I write on a computer my hands can type for a while and not hurt like they do with writing. Honestly, technology helps me out in my everyday like and am so thankful that I have it. Without it, it might not be as easy to get and enjoy books, reach out to my family, help with schoolwork, and finally help be write better with both my grammar, spelling and even just saving my hands from the pain of writing on paper for long periods of time. 

One of the things Nicholas Carr mentioned is that in 2001 A Space Odyssey people are emotionless and are basically machines. First of all, I would like to point out that he is referencing a moving that was made in 1968, where in 2001 people were living in outer space on ships, which obviously did not actually happen. I also feel all those emotions when watching movies even when they do not involve animals. I have cried with many family members when watching movies because we all feel so many emotions when watching them. Another point Carr tried to make is that there are a lot of pancake people with not a lot of Cathedral people anymore. That is simply not true

I also feel all those emotions when watching movies even when they do not involve animals. I have cried with many family members when watching movies because we all feel so many emotions when watching them. Another point Carr tried to make is that there are a lot of pancake people with not a lot of Cathedral people anymore. That is simply not true. I have had many conversations with many interesting people. Of course, everyone is going to meet people that they found boring but other people could find them interesting. It all depends on your own opinions.
